Luton returned to the top flight for the first time since 1992 courtesy of a 6-5 shootout victory in the Championship playoff final against Coventry.Jordan Clark opened the scoring in the first half before Gus Hamer, who was later forced off with injury, scored a fine equaliser. But the game went to penalties after a nervy period of extra time. Luton had one of the smallest budgets in the Championship – smaller than some League One clubs – but promotion caps an extraordinary and unprecedented rise.
