Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia set to be fit to face Reading

Aston Villa could have leading scorer Jonathan Kodjia back for the home game with Reading after he returned to training.

Kodjia lasted only 36 minutes of the 1-1 draw with Burton before limping off and was replaced by Scott Hogan but has since returned to training with the Villa first-team squad.

Hogan, who has been out with an ankle injury, could start against Reading if Kodjia is not fit enough with the former Bristol City man taking his place on the bench.

Gabby Agbonlahor is still out with a hamstring injury and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy continues his rehabilitation following an ankle problem.

Jordan Obita and Danzell Gravenberch will be pushing to start for the Royals as they look to bounce back from a 7-1 thrashing at Norwich last time out.

That defeat ended a three-match winning streak for Jaap Stam's promotion hopefuls and it remains to be seen if the Dutchman makes changes as a result.

Obita and Gravenberch recovered from respective leg and ankle injuries to come off the bench at Carrow Road and could be in contention to be drafted in to Stam's starting XI.

Paul McShane (calf), Joey van den Berg (hamstring) and Deniss Rakels (ankle) are all expected to be missing but Tiago Ilori (knee) could feature.
