British number three Kyle Edmund beat Martin Klizan in straight sets at the Qatar Open to record one of the biggest wins of his career.

The 20-year-old Yorkshireman, a member of Britain's victorious Davis Cup team, took just 70 minutes to win his first meeting with the world number 43 by an emphatic 6-2 6-3 scoreline.

Edmund, who came through qualifying to earn his place in the main draw in Doha, struck seven aces and forced four breaks of serve to clinch only his third success on the ATP Tour.

He will face either Feliciano Lopez or Daniel Munoz De La Nava for a place in the quarter-finals.
