Borna Coric comes through tough test in Miami

Borna Coric survived a gruelling battle with Marcel Granollers to reach the second round of the Miami Open.

The Croatian edged past Granollers 7-6 (8/6) 4-6 6-3 in two hours and 51 minutes to set up a second-round clash with number eight seed Dominic Thiem.

Diego Schwartzman also came through a marathon clash with Karen Khachanov to move into the second round.

The Argentine needed two-and-a-half hours to see off Khachanov 6-4 3-6 7-6 (7/4).

Andreas Seppi had a relatively straightforward 6-4 6-4 triumph over qualifiier Radu Albot, while T ommy Robredo was made to work hard to beat Nikoloz Basilashvili.

Damir Dzumhur beat Hyeon Chung 3-6 6-1 7-6 (7/1), while Andrey Rublev coasted to a 6-1 6-1 win over Florian Mayer.

There were also wins for Mikhail Kukushkin, Frances Tiafoe, Robin Haase, Adrian Mannarino, Yen-Hsun- Lu, Darian King, Horacio Zeballos and Andrey Kuznetsov.
