Wimbledon champion Andy Murray rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over unseeded Czech Lukas Rosol on Saturday to reach the third round of the Indian Wells ATP Masters.

In a tournament where he had lost his opening match in two of the past three years, Murray this time managed to overcome his slow start and get past the 49th-ranked Rosol in an hour and 45 minutes.

Murray, seeded fifth, had never played Rosol before, and found himself on the defensive from the start.

"I was starting to play a bit more aggressively," he said of the later sets. "Thankfully that helped."

The 26-year-old Scot, who had back surgery in September and reached his first semi-final since then at Acapulco last week, notched the 300th hardcourt match win of his career.

He next faces either Spain's Pablo Andujar or Czech Jiri Vesely.
