Injury makes Israel Folau a doubt to face Wales

Australia could be without full-back Israel Folau for Saturday's World Cup Pool A decider against Wales at Twickenham.

Folau suffered an ankle injury during the Wallabies' 33-13 victory over England three days ago, a result that meant World Cup elimination for the host nation.

The 26-year-old did not train on Monday, and Australia's coaching staff are monitoring him closely.

" He came off the field in the game with a bit of a sore ankle and didn't train yesterday. We're going to wait and see how he pulls up today," Wallabies attack coach Stephen Larkham told reporters.

"We are not even sure if he's going to train today."

Wing Rob Horne, meanwhile, is set to miss the Wales match due to a shoulder injury that forced him off early against England, with Drew Mitchell or Joe Tomane his likely deputy.

If Folau misses out, then Kurtley Beale would appear set to face Wales in the number 15 shirt.

And the Wallabies are also waiting to discover flanker Michael Hooper's fate after he was cited for alleged foul play last Saturday.

Hooper's challenge on England full-back Mike Brown just before half-time resulted in a citing complaint being made, with the player facing a disciplinary hearing in London on Tuesday.

Both Australia and Wales have clinched places in the last-eight, but Saturday's winners are likely to then face Scotland or Japan, with the losers tackling South Africa.
