Czech star Jaromir Jagr surpassed Mark Messier on the National Hockey League's all-time goals list as the New Jersey Devils defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-1.
Jagr, who was recently named to the Czech Republic team for next month's Sochi Olympics, scored his 695th career goal to move into seventh spot on the list.
His historic marker tied the game as New Jersey scored four unanswered goals for their third win in four contests.
The 41-year-old Jagr will be one of the oldest players in the men's hockey tournament at the Winter Games.
"I'm not thinking about history or Messier's goals," he said. "I'm not retiring yet, I'm not counting games yet. I'm trying to have fun. I have good teammates around me. They make me look good."
Jagr scored for the first time since December 21. He moved past Messier just three days after passing his ex-teammate Mario Lemieux for seventh place on the all-time points list.
Eric Gelinas, Adam Henrique and Dainius Zubrus also scored and Martin Brodeur made 29 saves for New Jersey.
Carey Price allowed three goals on just 18 shots and Max Pacioretty scored the lone goal for the Canadiens, who had won four of their last five against New Jersey.
Brodeur, who was snubbed when the Canadian Olympic team was announced earlier this month, was named the game's first star.
Brodeur is beloved in his home province of Quebec and received a standing ovation from the Montreal fans.
