Two years after the National Hockey League's 60th All-Star Game was to have been played in Columbus, the Midwestern US city will finally stage the event in 2015, the league said Saturday.
The NHL All-Star Game was to have been played in the home arena of the Columbus Blue Jackets earlier this year, but a money dispute between team owners and players that shortened the season led to the contest being canceled.
There is no NHL All-Star Game scheduled this season because of the two-week break in February for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, so the Ohio capital's edition of the game will be the 60th overall, as originally intended.
The game involving elite league talent will be staged on January 25, 2015, and make Columbus the third consecutive first-time host of the event after Raleigh, North Carolina in 2011 and Ottawa in 2012.
Columbus was also host of the 2007 NHL Draft.
