Stats Highlight How Leicester City's Form Has Dropped Off Since Brendan Rodgers' Contract Extension

​Leicester City's form in the Premier League in 2020 has been almost half as good as it was before manager Brendan Rodgers signed a new long-term contract in December.

The Foxes have been one of the most impressive teams in the top flight this season and at times were even considered to be in the title race, before Liverpool started to extend what is now an insurmountable 25-point lead at the top.

Leicester City have since dropped down into third place and are starting to look over their shoulder in the race for Champions League qualification, with some stats coming to light which show how far their form has dropped since Rodgers penned a new deal.

Before the contract extension, Leicester City were averaging 2.33 points per game under the former Liverpool and Celtic manager, compared to just 1.36 in the 11 games since Rodgers' new deal, according to ​Grace Robertson on Twitter.

It's not just the number of points which have seen a dramatic fall since Rodgers' contract extension, as they had been registering an xG difference per game of 0.6 compared to just 0.08 in their current run of form.

Their goal difference per game has also dropped off by more than 1.5 since the new contract was signed on December 6.

Although there is a correlation with Rodgers' extension, Leicester City fans will be quick to point out that their current run of form has also coincided with an injury to Wilfred Ndidi, who might not return for another two weeks.

The Foxes will face a tough test next weekend as they look to end their two-game winless run against Manchester City, but they've then got a favourable run of fixtures before travelling to face Arsenal on April 18.

Rodgers will dearly hope that form picks up and the Foxes secure a deserved top-four finish.
