Team Arkéa Samsic have said that they are hopeful of getting one of the two remaining team places in the 2019 Tour De France.
The Brittany based team which now has Andre Greipel as their main sprinter, normally have a berth in the race but this year, ASO have awarded places to the eighteen World Tour teams plus Wanty Group Gobert and Cofidis with two places still to be filled.
Emmanuel Hubert said in a press statement: “It is a logical choice on the part of ASO. Wanty Group Gobert and Cofidis occupy the top two places in the UCI Europe Tour rankings.
“This decision is in line with the UCI 2020 reform. We will not hide it, there is some pressure on our shoulders, but now it is necessary to speak on the ground.
“We will be expected from the first races but we have prepared, our team has worked hard this winter. Honestly, I think I have never let my runners so involved in their work. I have complete confidence in them. We know that the places are more and more expensive but that’s also why the Tour de France is a race apart in the calendar.
