Ahead of the current campaign, Anthony Martial was expected to be a major part of Manchester United's attack. He fired two goals in his first two games, but was then sidelined with a nasty hamstring injury.

After missing five games, he returned and made a big impact at Norwich, but produced arguably his finest performance of the season so far as he bagged two assists in Sunday's 3-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

As noted by OptaMartial brings his best form at Old Trafford. He has been directly involved in eight goals in his last ten starts in home games across all competitions, scoring four and providing four assists.

His link-up play with both Marcus Rashford and Daniel James was far too much for Brighton, as the trio tore through the Seagulls' defence with alarming ease.

The Frenchman could have even added a goal of his own late in the game, only for Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan to deny what would have been a fantastic solo effort from Martial in the dying stages.

In the five league games without Martial, United managed just one victory. Their attack lacked any real spark and they were deservedly beaten by the likes of Newcastle United and West Ham, and many fans were left counting down the days until Martial's return.

The 23-year-old has since bagged three goals and two assists in his last seven games in all competitions, justifying manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's faith in him at the start of the season.

United were so committed to Martial that they gave him the number nine shirt for the campaign following the departure of Romelu Lukaku, and he has certainly not disappointed.

The victory over Brighton saw United climb back up to seventh in the Premier League, and they are now nine points behind the top four.

After the international break, United will travel to Bramall Lane to meet Sheffield United, before welcoming Aston Villa to Old Trafford the following weekend.
