Belgium's Thierry Neuville extended his lead after day two of the Rally of Sardinia, moving 16 seconds ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala.

The sixth round of the World Rally Championship continued on the north of the Mediterranean island, where Neuville increased his advantage after claiming victory in the Hyundai i20 New Generation on special stage 13 at Monti di Ala and again at SS2 Monte Lerno 2.

"We have done another good day, the car in slippery conditions is amazing to drive. We can go pretty fast," Neuville said.

"Fighting with Jari is a pleasure, but tomorrow is going to be another tough one, so we have to prepare properly and continue fighting."

Championship leader Sebastien Ogier retained third place despite some late issues with the rear of his Volkswagen Polo R WRC, to sit one minute and 15 seconds off the pace heading into Sunday's final leg.
