Lewis Hamilton has already had two British Grand Prix wins at Silverstone and is keen to experience a perfect weekend in his home race by taking pole position and then winning the race.
Here we take a look at his record at the famous track.
2007
Qualified: 1st
Race: 3rd
A new star was born: Enter stage left, Lewis Hamilton. After claiming his maiden grand prix victory in Canada before going on to win the next round in America, Hamilton arrived at his first home race riding the crest of a wave. Ticket sales were at a 15-year high and Hamilton did not disappoint as he secured pole position. He led until the first round of pit-stops before losing ground to race winner Kimi Raikkonen and McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso to finish third.
2008
Qualified: 4th
Race: 1st
Hamilton arrived at his home race fourth in the drivers' standings but left on top after storming to victory in one of the outstanding performances by a British driver in recent years. In torrential rain Hamilton blitzed the field, finishing the race almost 70 seconds ahead of second-placed Nick Heidfeld and lapped the entire pack up to third.
2009
Qualified: 19th
Finished: 16th
A race, and season, to forget for the reigning world champion. Hamilton, in an uncompetitive McLaren, started the race from the back row after he was forced to abandon his final qualifying run. He made up just three places, finishing 16th and one lap down on winner Sebastian Vettel.
2010
Qualified: 4th
Race: 2nd
Hamilton survived a collision with Sebastian Vettel on the opening lap to move up to second. He spent the ensuing laps in pursuit of Mark Webber, but the Australian, in his Red Bull, was too strong for Hamilton, who fell short in his bid for his second home win.
2011
Qualified: 10th
Race: 4th
The Briton, enduring a error-prone campaign, could qualify only 10th as rain struck Silverstone during qualifying. He made up four places on the first lap, but left himself too much to do to challenge for top honours, ultimately finishing in fourth place.
2012
Qualified: 8th
Race: 8th
A disappointing home race for Hamilton. He could manage only 8th place in yet another rain-affected qualifying session, and failed to make any progress during the race finishing over half-a-minute down on winner Mark Webber.
2013
Qualified: 1st
Race: 4th
In his first season with Mercedes, Hamilton claimed his first pole since his maiden campaign, and he looked on course to seal his first victory at Silverstone in five years only to suffer a puncture as he led the race. He bravely fought back in the closing stages but narrowly missed a podium berth despite a fantastic duel with Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.
2014
Qualified: 6th
Race: 1st
After he inexplicably aborted his final run in a rain-hit qualifying session, wrongly believing he could not improve on his time, Hamilton started only sixth. But by the end of lap five he was up to second and on a charge as he began to reel in his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg. The German then suffered his first retirement of the campaign after his gearbox failed. Hamilton took charge of the race and never looked back.
