Why Wesley Sneijder Would Be the Perfect Fit for Juventus

Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri has revealed that the Italian Champions are interested in signing Netherlands international Wesley Sneijder.

The attacking midfielder currently applies his trade in Turkey for Galatasaray and has sparked interest from all across Europe with Manchester United just one of the other clubs reported to be interested in the 30-year-old.

But Juve have emerged as the favourites to sign Sneijder and I believe that he would be the perfect fit in Italy and just what the Turin club need.

Massimiliano Allegri told Sky Sports: "It's not easy to reinforce Juve, but we have some very clear ideas and it's no secret that we are looking for an attacking midfielder and a defender.

"Sneijder has tremendous technical quality and would complete an already very strong part of the team, creating competition for places.” He continued

"He wouldn't be able to play in the Champions League but we have to be realistic and see who is out there."

It’s no secret that Juventus has lacked creativity behind their strikers this season. They may have scored 44 goals this season but they've come from a various parts of the field. Carlos Tevez is currently Juve’s top goal scorer with 13 but their second and third are Paul Pogba with six, and Arturo Vidal with five respectively.

Fourth and fifth are Fernando Llorente and Álvaro Morata with four each and this is where the problem lies. They rely too much on Tevez as the creator and finisher. If they can get someone in who can assist the strikers and score some goals from an advanced midfield position.

Wesley Sneijder will do just this.

Also he’s played in Italy before. He had a very successful stint at Inter Milan. Sneijder is eager to move. He has played on 22 times this season, rumoured to be because of an argument over wages.

The only downside, which I can think of, is that he is ineligible to play in the Champions League because of being cup tied. He’s made six appearances for Galatasaray in Europe this season.

But there’s always next season and the several seasons that follow. If Juventus want to be serious Champions League contenders then it probably won’t this season anyway. They have a tie up against struggling Borussia Dortmund coming up next month but Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Chelsea have never been stronger. The only way they will be able to compete in to make some big signings in the summer.

Wesley Sneijder is a good start but they will need to sign a striker and a defender at least in order to be taken serious in European competitions.
