West Ham United have made a surprising £12 million bid for Ukraine international winger, Yevhen Konoplyanka. Currently contracted for FC Dnipro, he has recently gained interest from Liverpool and Chelsea. However, it is the East London side who have made the first move having already confirmed the signings of Cheikhou Kouyaté, Mauro Zarate and Diego Poyet.

The 24 year old has enjoyed a glittering start to his career in his native country Ukraine, scoring 28 times in 238 appearances for Dnipro. The interest from Premier League club Liverpool almost lead him to join the English runners-up, having met Konoplyanka’s £16 million buyout clause in January this year. Dnipro’s president refused to allow the winger to leave, who has become a fan favourite, and it is unclear whether the same will happen again.

West Ham have not been slow in making moves in this transfer window with Sam Allardyce promising to introduce more attractive football, whilst encouraging younger players to gain first-team experience.
