Wenger considers move for AC Milan hitman Stephan El Shaarawy

Arsenal are thought to be considering a move for AC Milan forward El Shaarawy in the summer with the player out of favour at Milan after struggling with a period of injury. The 22-year-old was allegedly the subject of interest in January but a deal failed to materialise.

The player nicknamed ‘The Pharaoh’ due to his paternal Egyptian heritage signed for AC Milan in 2011 and was considered one of the most promising young players in Europe.

Shaarawy has not featured for the Serie A outfit since January, having scored just one goal this season sparking speculation of a loan move to Genoa. Seeking to clarify his agent Manuel El Shaarawy spoke to MilanNews:

“I've had some requests from abroad, even in January. But Stephan is at home with Milan and doesn't feel the need to leave,”

“He has a good relationship with the fans, the club and his teammates.

“We’ll see what happens in the summer though, it depends on whether the coach [Inzaghi] will stay, if there will be changes at boardroom level and especially what the club plans to do on the transfer market.

“If Milan were to tell us that Stephan needs to go elsewhere then we’d sit round the table and talk about it.

“To my knowledge, [joint-CEO Adriano] Galliani has not offered Stephan to Genoa,” Manuel El Shaarawy said.

“I haven’t had any proposals from [Genoa President Enrico] Preziosi or Galliani to bring my brother to Genoa.

“I can rule out a move within Italy this summer. There have also been rumours about Udinese and Torino in January, as well as the Rossoblu. All can be excluded as options.

“Stephan will not go to another Italian team.”

A report in the Telegraph suggests an offer of around £11.8m could be enough to persuade Milan to sit down with talks over a possible transfer to the Emirates.
