Walter Zenga agrees deal with Sampdoria on contract settlement

Sampdoria have reached a settlement with Walter Zenga to terminate their former manager's contract.

The ex-Italy goalkeeper was sacked two weeks ago following a poor run of results, which saw the Blucerchiati win just one of seven matches.

Former Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella was subsequently appointed and Sampdoria have now reached an agreement to cancel Zenga's contract.

It is common practice in Italy to retain a manager's contract, but Samp have announced they have reached a settlement with Zenga.

A statement on the club's official website read: "With a sincere 'good luck' from President Massimo Ferrero, the directors of UC Sampdoria and Walter Zenga announce that, to the satisfaction of both parties, the contract running until June 30 2016 between the club and the Coach has been terminated.

"The documentation was submitted today to the relevant departments."
