Things heating up in Manchester United's pursuit of Chile star Arturo Vidal

Premier League giants Manchester United are stepping up their pursuit of Juventus and Chile star midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to the Daily Mail. With the Red Devils ready meet the Italian clubs valuation of £40 million.

Vidal is thought to be at the top of Louis van Gaal's shopping list this summer, and not for the first time. Van Gaal previously tried to sign the Chilean from Levurkusen whilst in charge of Bayern Munich in 2011 but the deal collapsed and resulted in Vidal moving to Juventus once van Gaal left the German giants.

United are thought to have made enquiries with relevant parties to see if the highly-rated midfielder would be open to a move to the Premier League and have been encouraged with signals coming from Vidal's people meaning a move to Old Trafford looks increasingly likely.

As mentioned above, Juventus value Vidal at £40 million but may be tempted to slash that price with the inclusion of Portuguese winger Nani. The Italian club are also keen on brining United's veteran left-back Patrice Evra to Turin, even after the Frenchman signed a new 1 year deal at Old Trafford.

It is thought that previous manager David Moyes first put Vidal on United's radar, whilst looking for fresh faces to strengthen a heavily criticised Old Trafford midfield. The Chilean has scored 31 goals in the past two seasons and though to be open to moving on, with Manchester United being an ideal destination.
