The Angel Di Maria Saga

25 August 2014 09:33

The 26 year old winger has been linked heavily with top clubs once he has shown his desire to move away from the Champions of the Europe. Reports and football pundits are suggesting Paris St. Germain and Manchester United are the favorite spots where he could land up this summer.

Earlier this month, reports had suggested that the French champions were in pole position to sign the Argentine winger, and Laurent Blanc, the PSG boss was preparing a bid to sign his signature. Later, news flashed that PSG has pulled out itself from the race as they face an uphill task to land him this summer because of Financial Fair Play rules.

In a press conference, Laurent Blanc said “There are many clubs interested in Di Maria. PSG cannot do what he wants in terms of recruitment (because of financial fair play). This is a difficult issue, the president has confirmed to me.” clearly suggesting that they will have to sell some big players to land the Madrid man.

Di Maria has already submitted a transfer request to the Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti. Reports are also claiming that PSG are in an exchange deal with Arsenal which will see Edison Cavani and Giroud travelling to different sides of Border which can then make way for the Di Maria deal to happen.

The news of PSG pulling out of the race of Di Maria has come as a huge Boost to Manchester United. The Dutchman, Louis van Gaal is eager to sign a winger and has already announced the name of Di Maria in the player list they want this summer. Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward has told media that they can spend Big this summer and break the all-time transfer record. But Woodward is yet to gain the confidence of United supporters having failed in last year’s summer transfer window too by just landing Fellaini. Di Maria can get a guaranteed first team spot plus the supporters behind him if he makes ‘Old Trafford’ his destination but he will have to sacrifice European football for at least this year

Another Rumor is that Barcelona already had a rejected offer for Real Madrid man of a hefty €60m. Barcelona on facing a 12 month transfer Ban is acting very rapidly in this little time left. But Madrid will always refrain selling a man of Di Maria cadre to their direct rivals.

So the question is where should Di Maria land finally? Will PSG find a way out to land him? Will Di Maria join Manchester United at the expense of losing Champions league football for at least this season? Or should he stay at Real and wait for the right time.
