St Johnstone's clash with Aberdeen postponed due to waterlogged pitch

St Johnstone's Ladbrokes Premiership match against Aberdeen has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

Aberdeen were looking to cut the three-point gap on leaders Celtic following the champions' late 1-0 win over Partick Thistle on Saturday.

But the game was called off with the McDiarmid Park pitch unplayable.

A Saints statement read: "Following an 8am pitch inspection by match referee Bobby Madden, today's game against Aberdeen FC has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

"Continuous rain from Saturday into Sunday and with continuing rain forecast led the decision at it is hoped that by having the pitch inspection at 8am that supporters will be caused minimum inconvenience."
