Liverpool vs Chelsea Preview, Predicted Lineups

23 April 2014 09:33

Sunday afternoon will see Brendan Rodger's side take on rival club, Chelsea FC. Liverpool are looking to seal their 12th consecutive league win in a row to claim the Premier League title for the first time since 1990. Mourinhio's men will be looking to spoil the party by ruining the Reds' winning streak and also to close the gap between the clubs from 5 points to a narrow 2 points.

Team news, Liverpool:

Liverpool line-up

Daniel Sturridge, who recently missed his last game against Norwich City is expected to start in this game. Unlike many hamstring injuries, Sturridge's wasn't serious, and the medical staff at Melwood (Liverpool's Training Ground) claimed he would be back in form within a week. Jordan Henderson is still suspended after the harsh tackle on Samir Nasri against Man City last week. I assume Joe Allen will replace him in the next two fixtures of which Jordan is suspended for. Henderson will eventually return for Liverpool's last game against Newcastle.

Team news, Chelsea:

Chelsea line-up

Petr Cech is a huge concern for the Chelsea as we saw the medical team escort him off the pitch during the Champions League match against Athletico Madrid. Mark Schwarzer will replace him until he is fit to play again. Another concern is John Terry. The centre back was taken off the field in the same game after what looked like an ancle sprain ( courtesy of Diego Costa). David Luiz may play defence to fill in for the ex-England international on Sunday.

Liverpool's last 8, home record: WWWWWWDW
^ Goals scored in last 8 - 26

Chelsea's last 8, away record: DWLLLWDL
^ Goals scored in last 8 - 7

My prediction: I predict that Liverpool will get off to a great start however they will loose momentum as the game progresses.Chances will more than likely open up for Chelsea in the second half. Predicted score = Liverpool 3-1 Chelsea
