Struggling Chesterfield welcome back Jon Nolan for Southend fixture

Jon Nolan returns from suspension for Chesterfield's home game against play-off hopefuls Southend.

The midfielder missed the home win over fellow strugglers Port Vale while he served a one-match ban.

David Faupala also sat out that game after being sent off against Rochdale but the on-loan Manchester City forward will complete his three-match absence on Friday and remains unavailable.

The second-bottom Spireites, who could be relegated, appear to have no new injury concerns. Captain Ian Evatt remains out with a knee problem, while striker Ched Evans, who has not played since the start of last month, is unlikely to return.

Southend must again do without midfielder Ryan Leonard, who is serving the final match of his three-game suspension.

Anthony Wordsworth is doubtful with a neck problem which saw him miss last week's defeat at Charlton, as did forward Nile Ranger, who is nursing a knee injury.

Full-back Ben Coker (ankle) and defender John White (hip) will also be assessed.

Centre-half Ryan Inniss has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign because of a dislocated shoulder, while goalkeeper Mark Oxley (elbow) and fellow stopper Ted Smith (wrist) continue their rehabilitation.
