Chesterfield v Shrewsbury

Chesterfield striker Ched Evans is set for a third spell on the sidelines ahead of the visit of Shrewsbury.

Evans' heel and ankle injury has flared up again, having already sidelined him on two previous occasions this season, and the issue will see him miss another chunk of the remaining 10 matches as the Spireites fight to stay in League One.

However, Blues boss Gary Caldwell had some good news on two other injury absentees. Paul McGinn (hamstring) played 45 minutes for the reserve team on Tuesday and Jon Nolan (hamstring) is due back in training.

Chesterfield, eight points from safety, have the likes of Dan Gardner, Reece Mitchell, David Faupala and Rai Simons vying for recalls.

Shaun Whalley will sit out the clash for Shrewsbury after limping out of last weekend's draw with Coventry.

The club are hoping the hamstring injury suffered by the in-form midfielder is not too serious as they continue to try to pull clear of the relegation fight.

Defender Joe Riley returned to action last weekend as a late substitute after recovering from his own hamstring complaint and is pushing for a start.

Striker Stefan Payne is close to returning from a foot problem, while Olly Lancashire (calf) and Abu Ogogo (knee) have both been sidelined for a number of weeks.
