Bayern Munich's Holger Badstuber Vows To Return After Yet Another Serious Injury

Holger Badstuber has vowed to come back stronger than ever from his latest injury setback.

The Bayern Munich defender has been ruled out for the rest of the season after breaking his foot in training on Saturday.

It is the fourth serious setback of a career blighted by injury, but the 26-year-old is not even considering waving the white flag.

"Once a fighter, always a fighter," he wrote on Twitter. "Think positive, especially now! #comebackstronger."

Almost every single Bundesliga club tweeted their support for the German defender, who only returned from his latest injury in November and played seven matches before being ruled out for the next three months.

He underwent surgery on Saturday evening and will not return to action until the start of next season.

"I'm speechless," wrote his Bayern team-mate Sebastian Rode on Twitter. "Chin up, Holger! You will come back even from this setback. Stay strong!"

Mario Gotze wrote: "I'm sorry, Holger. Don't let your head drop - you can do it! #getwellsoonHOLGER."

Badstuber's absence comes at a bad time for Bayern coach Pep Guardiola, who has seen almost his entire contingent of central defenders sidelined.

Jerome Boateng is unlikely to return before the end of the season while Javi Martinez faces a few more weeks out.

Medhi Benatia has only just returned to training while Serdar Tasci, who was drafted in on transfer deadline day, is recovering from concussion and may also miss Sunday's clash with Augsburg.

Midfielder Joshua Kimmich, 21, has played Bayern's last two games in the defence alongside Badstuber.
