Ray McKinnon wants Dundee United to put the pressure on Hibernian

Ray McKinnon wants Dundee United to start turning up the heat on Ladbrokes Championship leaders Hibernian.

The Tannadice outfit trail Neil Lennon's outfit by seven points in the race for automatic promotion.

But they can put the pressure on their rivals this Saturday when they take on Morton at home ahead of Hibs' early evening Easter Road clash with Dunfermline.

Tangerines boss McKinnon told ArabZONE: "There is no hiding the fact there is an opportunity for us on Saturday.

"I'm just trying to get the mentality into the players that from now to the end of the season we must win every game.

"We must give it everything to win every game. We will throw everything at every game.

"We've done that anyway but this is our main focus now. If it puts pressure on Hibs then great. That's exactly what we want."

But McKinnon is taking nothing for granted ahead of facing Jim Duffy's Greenock side.

"You just have to look at their results," he said. "They played Rangers last week and only lost 2-1 at Ibrox. They were excellent and probably should have taken something from the game.

"They also drew with Falkirk so they are clearly a good side. I say it all the time, there are no easy games in this league.

"We need to earn the right to play and to win these games, so that will be our focus on Saturday."

Falkirk will be hoping they can take advantage of whatever result comes out of that Tannadice fixture. The Bairns - who are two points behind United but level with Ton - will look to stretch their four-game unbeaten run when they host Dumbarton.

Saturday's fixture list also sees fifth-placed Queen of the South welcome Raith Rovers to Palmerston while St Mirren - eight points adrift at the bottom - will have to hope they can win away to relegation rivals Ayr United or their survival hopes will be all but over.
