Are Wilfried Bony and Liverpool a match made in heaven?

Brendan Rodgers will be finding the hot-seat at Anfield to be an increasingly uncomfortable one after what can only described as a routine capitulation at the weekend, this time to the club that effectively gave up their place in Europe to Liverpool.

Liverpool cashed in on their Suarez chips and got a decent return but in a way they lost more than one player as Suarez really lifted the confidence of those around him and forced teams to adopt extra defensive formations in an attempt to combat the excellent ‘SAS’ partnership.

The entertaining but flawed game has changed and barring some promise all that is left are the flaws for their opponents to exploit. There are always positives and Liverpool will need to offload some players and buy some new ones with the biggest fix needing to be the toothless attack. With goals back in the team they may well find a bit of confidence to build a run together and rescue a season going increasingly backwards.

Sturridge will return at some point but they will need a striker to compliment the Englishman that just needs a sniff of an opportunity to convert them into goals and that player is looking increasingly like Wilfred Bony. Bony is still only 26-years-old, has plenty of miles left on the clock and has been tormenting Premier League defences since 2013 for the Swans where he has racked up 24 goals in the league.

Bony did have a trial at Liverpool near the start of his professional career in 2007 but was not offered a contract and instead went to Sparta Prague and then Vitesse in the Dutch Eredivisie before moving to Swansea. Whilst Liverpool may well have changed their minds about Bony it is very likely that they would not get him cheap and not without a fight from fellow suitors Man City who also may find £20-25 million something of a bargain for a player with such obvious ability.
