Great Britain women put in a superb performance to claim bronze in the team pursuit at the Track World Cup in Cali, Colombia.

Competing one rider down following illness to Elinor Barker, the trio of Joanna Rowsell Shand, Katie Archibald and Ciara Horne finished ahead of China by less than two-tenths of a second to seal third spot.

"She has been feeling a bit unwell," said Rowsell of her team-mate Barker. "But the regulations say that although you can finish with three you can't start with three so I think she was a real hero to be getting up on the line so we can start the bike race.

"Racing with three was quite a battle but we enjoyed it and got it, just, thanks to Elinor for putting us up on the line when she wasn't feeling up for it."

In the men's team pursuit, Sir Bradley Wiggins, Andy Tennant, Steven Burke and Owain Doull finished fifth as Russia claimed gold and neither the men's or the women's team raced for a medal in the team sprints.
