Dan Martin Wins Tour Of Beijing Stage Four

Irishman Danny Martin has won forth stage of the Tour of Beijing.

A stage of two sprints and six climbs for the riders on a 157km stage from Yanqing to Mentougou Miaofeng Mountain Summit, saw a break of Graeme Brown of Belkin, Guilluame Boivin of Cannondale, Boris Vallee of Lotto and Julien Vermorte of Omega Pharma Quick Step. get away after 25kms after Giant Shimano's Luka Megzec had taken the first sprint of the day, some thirteen kilometres earlier.

They had a three minute lead as Boivin took the first climb and was second behind Brown on the second but came back to take the third before Vermote took the points on the fourth climb.

Brown was dropped with 34.2kms to go and with a lead of 3.17, Vermote, the most aggressive rider of the day, took the fifth climb after 124.5kms.

Onto the Mentougou Miaofeng Mountain climb and the gap was down to 45 seconds, so Vermote attacked the breakaway before being caught and Louis Vervaeke took over before Ryder Hesjedal passed him. The Garmin Sharp rider stayed away until he took was caught with two kilometres left.

Hesjedal's team mate Dan Martin was in a great position and attacked followed by Esteban Chaves. Martin was not to be beaten and won in 4.12.04, two seconds ahead of Chaves, followed by race leader Philippe Gilbert, Rui Costa, Arredono, Nocentini, Barguil, Uran, Chernetski and Garcia.

The win moved Martin up to second place in the overall classification. Martin is three seconds behind Philippe Gilbert.

Luka Megzec leads the points competiion, Michal Golas leads the King Of The Mountains competition with Estaban Chaves leading the Young Riders competition.
