Albasini Take Tour Of Romandie Stage Two

Michael Albasini of Orica Scott took the win in a bunch sprint on the second stage of the Tour De Romandie.

The second started in Aigle, which hosted the 4.8km prologue won by Fabino Felline of Trek Segafredo and was a 173.3km stage to Champéry.

Six riders in Marcus Burghardt, Matvey Mamykin, Sander Armee, Olivero Troia, Mekseb Debesay and Marco Minnaard got into a break that was 5.40 ahead after 19kms.

Armee took the five points on the climb at Chamoson and after Troia dropped away, the gap went out to 7.10.

Debesay took the sprint after 98kms, before Armee took the points on the next two climbs and Minnard was first at the Saint-Maurice sprint.

The break was caught after 165kms in the pouring rain and Kreuziger attacked with 5.4kms left on the climb into Champéry before quickly being brought back.

The race came down to a sprint and up popped Michael Albasini to win in 4,31.16 with Chris Froome in fifth place

Fabio Felline keepis his race leader and Simon Yates in the King Of The Mountains jersey.
