Younus Khan passes 10,000-run mark as Pakistan close in on West Indies total

Younus Khan became the first Pakistan batsman to pass 10,000 Test runs before West Indies struck back late on day three at Sabina Park.

The 37-year-old was eventually dismissed for 58, but became the 13th batsman in the history of Test cricket to reach the landmark when he got to 23 shortly after lunch.

Together with Babar Azam (72), he looked to be taking Pakistan to a position of strength after a rain-affected second day, but Shannon Gabriel removed both men with consecutive deliveries to keep the Windies interested as the tourists finished on 201 for four.

It did not take Mohammad Amir long to wrap up the hosts' innings in the morning, with Jason Holder's men adding just a further eight runs to their overnight total before Gabriel became Amir's sixth victim.

The tail-ender's defences were beaten as Amir clean bowled him to finish with figures of six for 44 - his best in Test cricket - as West Indies ended on 286.

After making a positive start in reply, Azhar Ali fell to Alzarri Joseph after throwing his bat at a wide ball and only succeeding in nicking behind to Shane Dowrich, who took a fine diving catch.

Holder had Ahmed Shehzad LBW for 31 before Younus and Babar combined to put on 131 for the third wicket in an even third day that leaves the match in the balance.
