Division One title-chasers Yorkshire flexed their muscles on day two of their Specsavers County Championship against Nottinghamshire, spurred on by a stunning bowling performance in Scarborough.

Bottom club Nottinghamshire resumed on 38 for two in reply to 282 but were blown away for 94 before the lunch break.

Jack Brooks, Tim Bresnan and Ryan Sidebottom, against his old club, each finished with three wickets in an emphatic display.

Acting skipper Gary Ballance declined to enforce the follow-on and top scored with 75 not out as Yorkshire reached 200 for four - a lead of 388.

Warwickshire built the beginnings of a promising lead against Durham at Chester-le-Street, with Ian Westwood grabbing the spotlight from Ian Bell.

Bell is reportedly being considered for a Test recall this winter but his 45 was overshadowed by Westwood's 264-ball 127 at the head of the innings.

The Bears reached 315 for seven, Chris Rushworth with three for 70, for an overnight lead of 108.

Surrey also snuck ahead in their match against Lancashire, leading by 67 with a first-innings score of 354 for six at the Oval.

Openers Rory Burns (88) and Dom Sibley (56) reached 160 before falling in quick succession to Kyle Jarvis, while Kumar Sangakkara and Steven Davies continued to good work with half-centuries of their own.

Nathan Buck bagged the prize scalp of Sangakkara for 67 but Lancashire never managed to build any pressure.

Somerset's Jack Leach garnered the plaudits in a tight contest against Hampshire at Taunton.

The slow left-armer doubled his wicket tally to finish with six for 108, his fifth five-for in first-class cricket, and dismiss the visitors for 338.

Somerset responded with 257 for five, promising opener Tom Abell leading the way with 79 before becoming the second of David Wainwright's victims.
