Sky Sports has obtained television rights for England's cricket series against Pakistan this autumn.

England travel to the United Arab Emirates - Pakistan's current cricket home as security factors preclude home series - for three Test matches, five one-dayers and three T20 internationals.

England's tour begins with two warm-up matches against Pakistan A, before the first Test in Abu Dhabi starts on October 13.

The announcement of the Pakistan series deal with Sky Sports follows four days on from broadcasting rival BT Sport winning television rights to show the 2017-18 Ashes, which is taking place in Australia.

It had been reported that BT Sport was also bidding to land the upcoming Pakistan series, but Sky Sports said it had secured rights through Ten Sports, which together with Pakistan Television holds broadcast rights for Pakistan 'home' internationals.

Sky Sports managing director Barney Francis said: "From the New Zealand series through to the Ashes we saw the development of a number of young players stepping up, and over the next five years with more than 50 England Tests, Sky Sports will be the place to watch them develop, beginning with this winter series against Pakistan and then South Africa."
