Shakib Al Hasan took three late wickets as New Zealand stumbled to 260 for seven in reply to Bangladesh's 289 all out on day two of the second Test in Christchurch.
Tim Southee's five-wicket haul had seen the Tigers dismissed for a modest total on day one, and the hosts looked on course for a big lead as half-centuries from Tom Latham, Ross Taylor and Henry Nicholls took them to 252 for four.

Latham's runs came from 111 balls with 11 fours, while Taylor hit seven fours and two sixes in his 103-ball innings.
A partnership of 75 between Nicholls and Mitchell Santner put New Zealand back in the ascendency until the latter was pinned lbw by Shakib.
BJ Watling played an unnecessarily aggressive shot and chopped on for one and Colin de Grandhomme was bowled attempting an expansive drive three balls later without troubling the scorers.
Shakib finished the day with three for 32 as Bangladesh look to claim a victory that would see them draw the series, having lost the opening Test in Wellington by seven wickets.
