Scots in complete control

Grant Bradburn's Scotland XI built up a mammoth 520-run lead after swatting the United Arab Emirates aside on day two of their warm-up clash in Southampton.

The Saltires - who are using three-day non-cap friendly to prepare for next week's Intercontinental Cup fixture against Afghanistan in Stirling - started the day at the Ageas Bowl in a commanding position on 339 for six and built from there.

Batsman Michael Leask added 61 runs from just 56 balls as the Scots declared on 431 for eight before handing the UAE the chance to reply.

But they folded to just 73 all out as Kent bowler Safyaan Sharif did the business with five wickets at the cost of just 41 runs.

Bradburn's side even had time to rattle up another 196 runs for the loss of just four wickets in their second innings, with George Munsey helping himself to a half century, before putting their opponents back in for a second time.

The UAE closed on 43 for nought but Scotland will hope to finish the job off quickly on Thursday's final day of action.
