Scotland stroll to warm-up victory

Scotland warmed up for the World Twenty20 qualifiers with a comfortable 69-run Duckworth-Lewis win over Jersey.

A day after wrapping up a six-wicket triumph over Namibia, the Saltires strolled to victory once more during the rain-affected clash in Edinburgh.

Jersey won the toss and put the Scots into bat - but the move backfired as opener George Munsey struck a quick-fire 75 from just 44 balls to put the hosts into a commanding position.

However, while Munsey's team-mates all made decent starts, only Preston Mommsen (29 not out) managed anything resembling a reasonable knock as the Scots had to settle for 199 for five after their 20 overs.

But Grant Bradburn's side were never in any trouble as Jersey responded, with Safyaan Sharif and Michael Leask helping themselves to three wickets each - the latter for just 10 runs.

A rain shower curtailed the action for a spell and when play did resume, Jersey were set a revised Duckworth-Lewis target of 145 following the loss of five overs.

But even that proved to be beyond the tourists as they finished on 93 for nine after 15 overs, with Cornelis Bodenstein their top scorer with a mere 22 runs.

Co-hosts Scotland will now launch their bid to book a place at next year's tournament in India when they face the United Arab Emirates in their opening qualifier at Raeburn Place on Thursday.
