Pakistan edge closer to series victory over West Indies

Pakistan made sturdy progress towards wrapping up a series win over the West Indies on the penultimate day of the second Test in Abu Dhabi.

Misbah-ul-Haq declared his side's second innings on 227 for two at lunch, leaving the tourists with an unlikely chase of 456. Progress was slow on a largely docile surface, but Pakistan will be happier with their position having reduced their opponents to 171 for four.

Opener Kraigg Brathwaite provided the main act of defiance, making 67 in 133 deliveries before Mohammad Nawaz snared him lbw on review.

Leon Johnson and Marlon Samuels succumbed to the leg spin of Yasir Shah, who took his match tally to six, while Rahat Ali dismissed Darren Bravo for 13.

By stumps Jermaine Blackwood had picked up the baton from Brathwaite, reaching 41 not out, but with 285 needed and three full sessions left to play Pakistan remain firm favourites.
