Kevin Pietersen to play for Sunfoil Dolphins again in Ram Slam

Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen will continue his Twenty20 globetrotting in the 2016/17 Ram Slam after agreeing a return to the Sunfoil Dolphins.

The Pietermaritzburg-born 36-year-old, who has not played professional cricket since April due to an injury sustained while on Indian Premier League duty, has signed a deal to play five group matches for the Dolphins.

Pietersen enjoyed a prolific opening spell with the franchise last year, hitting two hundreds and the same amount of fifties in amassing 401 runs at an average of 80.20 in just seven innings as the Dolphins reached the final.

"I'm as excited as anything to have signed with the Dolphins again," said Pietersen, who will also be available for the latter stages should the Dolphins progress.

"I had such a wonderful season with them last season and I really enjoyed the team, the camaraderie and the competition so it was a very easy decision to sign again for this season's T20 competition.

"It will be great to get back on to the cricket field again and I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone in Durban again as well.

"Here's to a successful campaign."
