Jesse Ryder has left Essex early due to injury, the county side have announced.
The New Zealand all-rounder, 32, has spent three seasons at Chelmsford and scored over 1,700 first-class runs, adding 92 wickets at 24.71.
He has added 960 runs in one-day cricket and 881 in Twenty20, including a 2014 one-day season in which he averaged 92 with the bat.
A club statement announced: "Jesse Ryder has returned to New Zealand after it was mutually agreed his contract would come to an end early.
"The Kiwi International suffered a calf strain recently and has since been hampered by the injury. With only Specsavers County Championship games left it was deemed in the best interests of both parties if Ryder returned to his home country early.
"Having been with the club for the past three years, Ryder has made contributions throughout his time at the (Essex County Ground) both on and off the pitch.
"Everyone at the club would like to thank Jesse for his services and wish him well for his future endeavours."
