Middlesex bowler James Harris has signed a two-year contract extension, the county have announced.

The 25-year-old is committed to Middlesex until the end of the 2017 English domestic season, with an automatic extension for a further year if set criteria have been met.

Harris, who joined Middlesex from Glamorgan in 2013, is currently the second highest wicket-taker in first-class cricket this season, with 36 wickets at an average of 21.55.

Middlesex managing director of cricket Angus Fraser said: "James is the sort of character and cricketer that every team wants.

"There have been a few counties showing interest in him so I am delighted he has committed his immediate future to us.

"We believe he has the potential to become a high quality all-rounder."
