Eoin Morgan pinpointed Ben Stokes' superb catch to remove Glenn Maxwell as the turning point in England's NatWest Twenty20 international victory over Australia.

Morgan smashed seven sixes in his 39-ball 74, while Moeen Ali was unbeaten on 72 as England posted 182 for five, but Glenn Maxwell (44) and Steven Smith (90) appeared to be steering the tourists to victory before Stokes removed the former with a fine running catch.

And Stokes shone with the ball in the final over, taking one wicket and finishing off two run-outs as England prevailed by five runs.

Morgan told Sky Sports Ashes: "It was a very good game of cricket and a great game to win. You can learn a lot from tight games against good opposition and we'll have learnt a lot tonight.

"White ball cricket has been like this for a long time, you go through periods struggling to take wickets.

"The attitude to show is when you take a wicket you need to make it count. Ben Stokes' catch changed the momentum of the game. We made it count, we built pressure and we managed to get Smith - who played incredibly well."
