England players will be given the chance to opt out of this autumn's tour of Bangladesh if they have security concerns.
Captains Alastair Cook and Eoin Morgan and team members will meet with the England and Wales Cricket Board's security director Reg Dickason on Thursday to learn about the current situation in the country.
Militant group Islamic State claimed responsibility for an attack in Dhaka last month which saw 20 hostages killed, including nine Italian citizens, and there are fears of further incidents targeting westerners.
Australia have cancelled senior and under-19 tours to Bangladesh in the last year and Dickason has spent two weeks assessing the safety of players, supporters and media both there and in India, where England are due to tour after completing their commitments in Bangladesh.
Limited-overs captain Morgan said: "The briefing will be Thursday evening, they've been doing the recce and we'll be debriefed by them.
"Alastair will be there and other guys who are available will come. They'll debrief us on the findings on both tours and we'll chat about it, it has to be quite open.
"People have missed tours in the past so you have to make guys feel safe to go. It's a decision you'd rather get out of the way sooner rather than later. There's always room for a personal decision, you also have to understand guys might have different priorities."
England bowlers Andy Caddick and Robert Croft pulled out of 2001's tour of India for security reasons, while England forfeited a World Cup match against Zimbabwe in 2003 after refusing to play in Harare.
