West Brom have agreed a deal worth £15m for Huddersfield Town striker Karlan Grant, concluding months of talks between the two clubs, with the player due for his medical on Thursday.
Slaven Bilic has been fine-tuning his side in preparation for their return to the Premier League, but had as of yet failed to land the striker that he desired.
With the European and Premier League windows closing in early October, that left the domestic window as his only opportunity to add firepower, but following months of lengthy discussions, he is finally set to land his man.Talks have been taking place throughout the summer for Terriers striker Grant - who is yet to play this season - with a breakthrough finally reached. A deal worth £15m has been agreed between both parties, one that will see the 23-year-old return to the top tier of English football. He is due for his medical in the midlands on Thursday.
In a struggling Huddersfield side last season, Grant still scored a respectable 19 goals, with his performances catapulting him to the top of Bilic's wishlist, who is relieved to finally be securing his top target. The same goes for Grant, who has been eager to leave the John Smith's Stadium.
Grant started his career out with Charlton, scoring 21 goals in 98 outings, but he was snapped up by the Terriers during the 2019 January window as they desperately bid to retain their top-flight status. Despite scoring four goals in the second half of the season, Grant was powerless to prevent the Yorkshire outfit from being relegated.
He now will compete for a starting berth at West Brom with the likes of Callum Robinson, Hal Robson-Kanu and Charlie Austin. Of the trio, only Robinson has got off the mark in the league this season, scoring twice in the 3-3 home draw with Chelsea.
