Twitter Reacts to Horrific Blunder From Brentford Goalkeeper David Raya

Due to the abundance of 'football funnies' that populate social media feeds across the world, it takes something pretty special to grab our attention.

A dog stopping a shot on the line? Sure. Diego Maradona being built a literal throne for when Gimnasia de La Plata? Definitely. David Raya getting nutmegged by a shot from inside his opponent's half? Wait, what! Tell us more.

The incident in question took place in Saturday afternoon's meeting between Brentford and Hull City in the Championship.

With the Bees enjoying a comfortable 2-0 lead with only 28 minutes on the clock, the hosts were gifted a way back into the game in farcical fashion.

Picking the ball up just inside his own half, Tigers centre-back Ryan Tafazolli sent an aimless hoof upfield. It was the most straight forward of straight forward saves for Raya - so  much so that he seemed to have forgotten to actually make save.

Incredibly, the Spaniard misjudged his first touch, allowing the ball to squirm through his legs and into the back of the net. oops.

Of course, people on social media were typically understanding of Raya's honest mistake. including 90min's own Chris Deeley.

Those who weren't poking fun at the poor keeper were angrily shouting at him for costing them their bets. Hmm, actually, maybe Raya had a bet on himself?

Never mind. The Bees stopper can at least take some consolation in the fact his error had little bearing on the game, as his side went on to win 5-1.

He'll also be making quite a few royalties from football blooper DVDs next Christmas.
