Tottenham get their Europa League group stage campaign underway when they take on Austrian outfit LASK in north London on Thursday night.

Spurs have been in baffling form in their recent fixtures, winning 6-1 at Manchester United before throwing away a commanding lead to draw 3-3 with West Ham in their first match following the international break.

Team News

Eric Dier was absent from Sunday's draw but could come into the backline if he can overcome a hamstring problem. There could be minutes for Dele Alli, though his omission at the weekend makes any potential start seem unlikely.

Carlos Vinicius could be handed a start in place of Harry Kane, who has already played in 13 games for club and country this season, piling up a total of ten goals and eight assists. Son Heung-min could also be given a rest, while Gareth Bale may feature from the outset to raise his match fitness.

Japhet Tanganga is still unavailable, but Erik Lamela and Giovani Lo Celso, neither of whom were involved on Sunday, have been in training. New signing Joe Rodon is ineligible for the Europa League.

LASK have a relatively clean bill of health, but midfielder Dominik Reiter will be missing due to a cruciate ligament injury.

Predicted Lineups

Tottenham: Lloris; Doherty, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Davies; Winks, Sissoko, Hojbjerg; Bale, Vinicius, Lucas.

LASK: Lawal; Ramsebner, Wiesinger, Filipovic; Ranftl, Holland, Michorl, Renner; Gruber, Raguz, Balic.

Recent Form

Tottenham have only lost one of their nine games in all competitions so far this season, but so far it's been a story of missed opportunities for Jose Mourinho's men.

Spurs were 3-0 up and cruising after just 16 minutes against West Ham, but a less intense second half from the hosts led to some seriously slack defending and a Manuel Lanzini screamer, which saw the game end all square.

Prior to that, big wins against Manchester United and Maccabi Haifa had been recorded, while entry to the Carabao Cup quarter finals was also sealed courtesy of a penalty shootout victory against Chelsea.

LASK have won two of their four league games this season, sitting fourth in the Austrian Bundesliga. Die Schwarz-Weißen came through qualifying to reach the Europa League group stage, battering Slovak outfit Dunajská Streda 7-0 before a 4-1 win against Sporting CP in Lisbon in the playoff round.

Prediction

3-3. 6-1. 7-2. Tottenham's recent results read pretty weirdly, though a few changes to the starting XI should mean this game is a little more predictable. Or not. Who knows?

Spurs should be able to keep their excellent goalscoring form going - they've netted 16 times in their last three games - but don't be surprised if the defenders at the other end keep things interesting.

Prediction: Tottenham 3-2 LASK
