Tottenham vs Fulham preview: How to watch on TV, live stream, kick off time & team news

28 December 2020 06:00

Tottenham host Fulham on Wednesday evening looking to return to winning ways following a four-game run without victory in the Premier League.

Spurs were blunt for much of their encounter with Wolves on Sunday, eventually conceding late on as the hosts grabbed a well-deserved point. They're currently fifth, six points behind leaders Liverpool.

Fulham have shown greater defensive resilience in recent weeks, picking up two clean sheets in their past four games in the league, all four of which have been draws. They're 18th and have managed only two wins all season.

Team news

Tottenham lined up in a 3-4-1-2 formation on Sunday, seemingly to counter Wolves' three-man defence even though the hosts opted for four at the back for much of the contest.

They should revert to their normal formation with Sergio Reguilon featuring at left-back and Ben Davies dropping out, allowing one of Erik Lamela, Steven Bergwijn or Lucas Moura to fill in on the right wing.

Japhet Tanganga and Giovani Lo Celso will miss out, while there is still concern over Gareth Bale, who limped off after scoring the opener at Stoke in the Carabao Cup.

Fulham midfielder Mario Lemina missed the 0-0 Southampton draw as he was unavailable to feature against his parent club but should feature here, though Terence Kongolo and Kenny Tete are doubtful with knocks.

Aleksandar Mitrovic could be rotated in up front after making an appearance off the bench against the Saints. Manager Scott Parker will be back on the touchline after returning a second negative Covid test.

Predicted lineups

Tottenham: Lloris; Aurier, Dier, Alderweireld, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Sissoko; Son, Ndombele, Lamela; Kane.

Fulham: Areola; Aina, Andersen, Adarabioyo; Cordova-Reid, Lemina, Reed, Anguissa, Robinson; Mitrovic, Lookman.

Prediction

Tottenham's marathon run of tricky fixtures has finally come to an end, but Fulham present a different challenge.

Jose Mourinho's side have struggled when tasked with breaking opponents down and have scored just 11 goals in their last ten Premier League games. They've been especially blunt during the second halves of games.

Fulham have steadily picked up four points from their last four fixtures, being particularly impressive during the 1-1 draw with Liverpool. If they play with a similar intensity they showed against the Reds, Spurs may have an awkward afternoon.

On paper, Spurs ought to get back to winning ways, but expect a hiccup along the way.

Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Fulham
