Real Betis Eye Move for Crystal Palace Goalkeeper Vicente Guaita

Real Betis are preparing to make a move for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita, according to reports in Spain.

The 33-year old has impressed during his two seasons in the Premier League, keeping 17 clean sheets in 55 appearances.

However, the Spaniard may be on his way out of Selhurst Park, with Superdeporte reporting that Real Betis are ready to snap up the former Valencia stopper.

Los Verdiblancos are in dire need of a quality goalkeeper, with 22-year old Dani Martin and former Everton keeper Joel Robles underperforming as the club conceded the second most goals in La Liga.

And now Betis, who will be managed by Premier League winning manager Manuel Pellegrini next term, have turned their attentions to the Crystal Palace man to solve those issues.

However, should Pellegrini make a move for the Spaniard, he may face competition from fellow La Liga club Valencia, who are also believed to be interested in Guaita.

Valencia have had goalkeeping troubles of their own, with Dutch stopper Jasper Cillessen failing to impress since his move from Barcelona last summer.

Roy Hodgson will be keen to keep Guaita at Selhurst Park for the upcoming campaign, having started the 33-year old in 35 games of the 2019/20 season.

However, the Spaniard has just one year remaining on his current contract, which will make it difficult for the Eagles to turn down any offers.

Should Guaita leave the south London side in summer, it would leave Palace with Wayne Hennessey as their only goalkeeper who has top flight experience

Elsewhere at Selhurst Park, Roy Hodgson is believed to be in for Welsh international David Brooks. Brooks has played 37 league games for Bournemouth, scoring eight times, but missed the majority of the Cherries' ill-fated campaign with an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, star man Wilfried Zaha is still rumoured to be on his way out the door, although he apparently carries a £70m price tag which may deter the likes of Everton from making a move for him this summer.
