Former Man Utd wonderkid Ravel Morrison reflects on unfulfilled career

Former Manchester United starlet Ravel Morrison has spoken candidly about his career regrets, with the attacking midfielder now without a club at 28.

The ex-wonderkid has simply not followed the trajectory that was expected, with a combination of off-field problems, a failed transfer to West Ham and poor stints at clubs across Europe resulting in a career unfulfilled to date.

His most recent spell came with Dutch side ADO Den Haag in the first half of the 2020/21 campaign.

Reflecting on his time in the game in an interview on Rio Ferdinand's Vibe with Five podcast, Morrison said he would change '90% of his life' if he could go back in time.

In one touching moment, a message from his former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was read aloud to him, which read: "The boy had a good heart, he was just beaten by his background."

"If I could go back in time I would change 90% of my life," Morrison said. "But you have to look forward, you can't think about the past too much."

Morrison made his debut for United in 2010 aged 18, but due to off-field issues was allowed to join West Ham in 2012. However, the midfielder left the Hammers in 2015 having made just 24 appearances after an alleged contract dispute with then-manager Sam Allardyce.

"If I had the opportunity I'd have stayed with West Ham all the way through," the player added.

Morrison added that he has no plans to call time on his career just yet, with a move to a Championship club or La Liga potentially on the cards.

He revealed: "I had meeting with a Championship club and think that's looking very positive. I'd like to stay local because of family, I've got two little brothers and my mum, and I've been travelling all my life.

"But I've got a team in Spain, in La Liga, so that could happen."
