Tianjin Open top seed Jelena Jankovic crashed out of the tournament in the second round Thursday, continuing a poor run of form for the Serbian world number 14.

The former world number one lost to 112th-ranked Zheng Saisai of China 6-3, 6-3 at the inaugural tournament, her third early exit in a row at Chinese tournaments.

Jankovic, who was the tenth seed at the China Open last week, crashed out in Beijing to Alize Cornet of France in the first round.

At the Wuhan Open, where she was also seeded tenth, Jankovic retired early in her match with Coco Vandeweghe of the USA in the second round.

Elsewhere in Tianjin, Hsieh Su-Wei of Taiwan beat home-crowd favourite Zhang Shuai 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7/5).

The second seed in Tianjin, China's Peng Shuai, overcame Elizaveta Kulichkova of Russia 6-1, 6-2.
