Fourth seed Dominic Thiem came from behind to claim a memorable win over top seed Gael Monfils in the semi-finals of the Konzum Croatian Open in Umag.

France's Monfils, the world number 17, looked to be on course for victory as he eased through the first set but his Austrian opponent battled back, eventually winning through 1-6 6-3 6-1.

The first set lasted just 22 minutes but Thiem, the world number 26, was not broken again as he powered into the third final of his career.

He will face Portugal's Joao Sousa, who also rallied to stun second seed Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain 4-6 6-2 6-3.
