Great Britain's Katie Swan and Anna Brogan scored rapid wins to reach the third round of the girls' singles at Wimbledon.

The America-based but Bristol-born Swan sailed through at the expense of Indonesian Deria Nur Haliza, with the fifth seed a 6-1 6-2 home success story on Court 19.

Sixteen-year-old Swan said: "If I play well I think I have a good chance of doing well this week. I just want to enjoy it."

Brogan was similarly impressive in seeing off Ukrainian Katarina Zavatska 6-1 6-3, the Glaswegian backing up her first-round win over top seed Marketa Vondrousova.

Brogan said Andy Murray had sent her an encouraging text message beforehand, and explained her fellow Scot was inspirational.

The 17-year-old told wimbledon.com: "I absolutely love watching him play. I managed to watch a set of his match against (Ivo) Karlovic. His passing shots were unbelievable."

There was disappointment to balance the positives of Swan and Brogan's victories, as American Tornado Alicia Black swept to a 6-1 6-1 win against Maia Lumsden.

Swan and Brogan will be both in Court 18 action on Wednesday as they battle to reach the quarter-final stage.

Brogan opens up play on the show court against Russian Anastasia Potapova, with Swan second in action as she tackles ninth-seeded American Sofia Kenin.
